The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Deolu Ijose as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment according to the power company, marks a significant leadership transition aimed at strengthening the company’s operations and service delivery.
The announcement was contained in a statement on Thursday in Ibadan, following the recent reconstitution of the company’s Board of Directors.
Ijose succeeds Engr. Francis Agoha, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), who previously held the position.
The new MD/CEO brings with him extensive experience in Nigeria’s power sector, having served as Managing Director of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) and as Chief Commercial Officer at IBEDC.
His familiarity with the company’s operations and broader industry dynamics is expected to play a key role in driving the organisation’s next phase of growth.
The Board expressed confidence in Ijose’s capacity to consolidate on existing gains while improving operational efficiency and overall business performance.
Speaking on his appointment, Ijose said he was honoured to lead the company at a critical time in its development.
“I am honoured to lead IBEDC at this critical time. We will build on the foundation already in place by prioritising operational efficiency, strengthening commercial discipline, and delivering improved service to our customers.
Our success will be driven by teamwork, accountability, and a shared commitment to excellence,” he said.
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity supply across its franchise areas.
It further noted that it would deepen stakeholder collaboration, invest in infrastructure, and leverage technology to enhance customer experience.
IBEDC added that the new leadership is expected to accelerate progress and deliver greater value to customers, stakeholders, and the Nigerian economy.
