Honourable Dada Awoleye’s Senatorial bid gains momentum over the weekend following series of high-level consultations across Oyo South Senatorial District with party leaders and political stakeholders across the District.

Awoleye engaged critical blocs within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), drawing reactions that, taken together, suggest a growing alignment around his potential senatorial ticket.

At a meeting with the State Executive Committee members in the Oyo South Senatorial district, party leaders openly acknowledged what they described as Awoleye’s “demonstrated courage” in stepping forward to seek representation at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.

He was particularly praised for his leadership acumen and the depth of his political understanding while serving as both the caretaker chairman of the PDP in Ogun state and a committee member that oversaw the successful conduct of PDP North Central Zonal congress in Plateau State.

Awoleye was equally commended for the successful restoration of peace and unity within the party and successful conduct of congresses into elective offices across ward, local government and state levels which installed the current PDP executives in Ogun state.

Beyond the support for his ambition, however, the high-level stakeholders discussion leaned heavily on his track record as a former legislator at the state assembly and the House of Representatives.

The excos pointed to his two-term tenure representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, where they said he delivered “quality representation and purposeful leadership” that has continued to resonate within the constituency even after years of leaving office.

Many within the stakeholders, held that history now forms the backbone of his credibility as he eyes a higher legislative role in the Senate.

During the engagement with the Oyo State PDP Executive Committee, leaders, including the state vice chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the Senatorial Chairman, Alhaji Kamoru Adeyemi, and other executive Council members in the district commended Awoleye’s loyalty to the party.

Awoleye, who is currently the chairman of Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, was described as a consistent and dependable party man, one who has remained aligned with the ideals and internal discipline of the PDP through challenging political period.

Party leaders noted that his experience across both state and national legislative processes positions him as a figure with the institutional understanding required for effective representation at the Senate.

Hon. Awoleye was assured that the process leading to the emergence of the party’s candidate would be guided by fairness, transparency, and the collective interest of the party.

At the grassroots level, the reception appeared even more emphatic as leaders and stakeholders from Ibadan North Federal Constituency reaffirmed their trust in Awoleye, expressing confidence in his leadership style and political judgment.

Many described his consultation as both timely and reassuring, noting that his connection with constituents has remained intact beyond his time in office.

Among leaders in Ibadan North, Hon. Lukman Agboluaje and Pastor Lanre Oderajo described Awoleye as a strong grassroots mobilizer with impressive track records to his credit at all levels.

The same pattern of endorsement played out during meetings with PDP local government chairmen across Oyo South Senatorial District.

Across these engagements, there was a recurring message which include recognition of Awoleye’s accessibility, his familiarity with the district’s political terrain, and a willingness among stakeholders to support who they see as a credible aspirant.

The party stakeholders acknowledged that the consultations, while routine in the build-up to an election cycle, carry deeper political undertones which they said was indicative of capacity to deliver.
