2027: Oluyole PDP stakeholders ratify, endorse Ibrahim Ajao as House of Reps consensus candidate

Leaders and stakeholders across all the ten wards of Oluyole Local Government have unanimously ratified and endorsed Mr. Akinsomi Ibrahim AjAO, as the consensus candidate for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

The meeting, which also recorded the physical presence of all the aspirants in attendance, held on Sunday, April 12, at Anfani area of Ring road, Ibadan.

 

As part of move to ensure credibility and transparency, the endorsement process was witnessed by independent heads of security agencies in Oluyole Local Government.

 

The endorsement followed a crucial stakeholders’ meeting convened in line with the directives of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the guidance of the party leadership.

 

The meeting, which brought together political leaders, party elders, and the local government PDP excos, culminated in a resolution aimed at promoting unity and strengthening the party’s chances in the forthcoming polls.

 

According to the communiqué read by the overall leader of the PDP in Oluyole LG, Dr Gbola Adetunji, on behalf of the entire stakeholders and other leaders at the end of the meeting, Ajao, who hails from Ward 5, emerged after a thorough consultative process designed to ensure inclusivity, fairness, and adherence to democratic norms.

 

The stakeholders noted that all aspirants underwent a comprehensive screening exercise and demonstrated commitment to party discipline and cohesion.

 

In a show of solidarity, the aspirants pledged their loyalty to the local government leadership, the party structure, and the state government.

 

“The Oluyole Local Government Leaders and Stakeholders have resolved to nominate Mr. Akisomi Ibrahim Ajao as the consensus candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election,” the communiqué stated.

 

It further emphasized that the decision was reached through mutual understanding and broad-based consultations, reflecting the collective will of party members and leaders within the federal constituency.

 

Other stakeholders at the meeting described the development as a strategic move to consolidate unity within the party and avoid internal disputes that often arise during primary elections.

 

They also noted that consensus arrangements, when transparently conducted in such manner being displayed, can strengthen party cohesion and enhance electoral prospects of the party.

 

Their presence, stakeholders said, underscored the commitment to a peaceful and orderly political process.

 

The resolution was formally endorsed on Sunday, April 12, 2026, by leaders and stakeholders from across the region, marking a decisive step toward the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

 

Recall that stakeholders and elders are party in the council had earlier last week ratified and endorsed Hon. Waheed Akintayo, a serving lawmaker at the 10th assemblyx as the PDP consensus candidate for a second term at the state House of Assembly.

 

Party insiders expressed optimism that Ajao’s emergence would galvanize support at the grassroots and position the party for victory at the polls.

 

They also called on members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s vision for sustainable development and effective representation.

 

Impressed by the show of unity and solidarity by aspirants, leaders and stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence was also passed on the executive Chairman, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, over his role which they described as reflective of a well grounded politician in grassroots politics.

 

Some of the leaders and stakeholders in attendance were the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, immediate past chairman of Oluyole Local, Olaide Settle, who was also an aspirant, member representing Oluyole state constituency at the state assembly, Waheed Akintayo, and other prominent figures.
