A former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Isiaka Kazeem Babtunde, popularly known as “Arole,” has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Arole, who previously represented Oyo West/East state constituency in the state legislature, announced his bid to represent the Oyo Federal Constituency, which comprises Atiba, Oyo West, Oyo East and Afijio Local Government Areas on Tuesday, March 24.

The lawmaker, who hails from Ward 1 in Oyo West Local Government, said his decision to join the race was driven by a desire to deepen grassroots representation and attract greater federal presence to the constituency.

Speaking on his declaration, Hon. Isiaka Kazeem Tunde “Arole” said, “This decision is not driven by personal ambition alone, but by a deep conviction that our people deserve stronger, more effective representation at the national level.

“Having served at the state legislature, I understand the gaps that exist between our communities and the federal government, and I am stepping forward to help close those gaps with purposeful and people-oriented leadership.”

He added, “Oyo Federal Constituency is rich in history, human capital and economic potential, yet much of this remains untapped.

“My focus will be on attracting meaningful federal projects, empowering our youth, supporting local enterprises and ensuring that every ward, from Atiba to Afijio, feels the impact of responsive governance.

“This is about service, accountability and giving our people a stronger voice where it matters most.”

He noted that his legislative experience at the state level has equipped him with the necessary understanding of governance and constituency needs, adding that he intends to leverage this background to deliver effective representation at the national level.

According to him, the Oyo Federal Constituency possesses significant economic and cultural potential that remains underutilised, stressing the need for purposeful leadership that can bridge the gap between the people and the federal government.

Arole also pledged to prioritise youth empowerment, infrastructural development and improved access to federal opportunities, if given the party ticket to contest.

He called on party stakeholders, community leaders and constituents across the four local government areas to support his aspiration, assuring them of inclusive representation and responsive leadership.

The lawmaker maintained that his entry into the race would reshape the dynamics of the contest, particularly given his grassroots appeal and previous legislative experience at the state level.
