The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has urged Muslim faithful to carry forward the lessons of discipline, compassion and devotion learnt during Ramadan into their everyday lives.
In a goodwill message marking the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, the Speaker commended Muslims across Nigeria and the world for their spiritual commitment, sacrifice and steadfastness throughout the 30-day fasting period.
Ogundoyin described Ramadan as more than a religious obligation, noting that it represents a season of deep reflection, self-restraint and renewed devotion to Allah.
According to him, the successful completion of the fast reflects the resilience and enduring faith of the Muslim Ummah.
He praised the virtues demonstrated during the holy month, including patience, generosity, unity and compassion, stressing that these values remain vital to building a peaceful and harmonious society.
“The essence of Ramadan should not end with the sighting of the moon,” he said. “The discipline, kindness and sense of community fostered during the fasting period must continue to shape our daily conduct and interactions.”
The Speaker also emphasized the need to sustain the spirit of giving, urging Muslims to continue supporting the less privileged and vulnerable members of society beyond the festive period.
Congratulating the Muslim community on witnessing another Eid celebration, Ogundoyin called on Nigerians to uphold tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State House of Assembly to enacting people-oriented legislation aimed at improving the welfare and well-being of all residents, regardless of background.
Ogundoyin further prayed that Allah accepts the fasting, prayers and supplications offered during Ramadan, and grants lasting peace, progress and prosperity to Oyo State and the nation at large.
