The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has commended the state government for initiating the disbursement of funds to beneficiaries under the Youth Entrepreneur Agribusiness Program being implemented under the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (YEAP–SAfER) Programme.
Ogundoyin described the move as a strategic intervention aimed at empowering youths and strengthening agribusiness.
Ogundoyin gave the commendation on Monday during the symbolic presentation of cheques to beneficiaries at the Oyo State Agribusiness Transformation Centre, Fashola.
The programme, a partnership between the Oyo State Government and First City Monument Bank (FCMB) with support from Mastercard, is designed to drive youth entrepreneurship and enhance agricultural productivity across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker said the initiative goes beyond financial support, noting that it represents a deliberate effort to unlock the potential of young people, create sustainable opportunities, and build a resilient base of agribusiness entrepreneurs.
He lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as foresight and a strong commitment to policies that promote inclusive economic growth and long-term development.
Ogundoyin noted that the commencement of disbursement to the first batch of beneficiaries marks a significant milestone in the state’s drive towards self-reliance and productivity, particularly among its youth population.
He also praised the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency, led by Debo Akande, for its role in coordinating the programme and advancing the transformation of the agribusiness sector in the state.
While addressing the beneficiaries, the Speaker urged them to utilise the funds responsibly, stressing the importance of sustainability and value creation in ensuring the success of the initiative and contributing to the broader economic prosperity of Oyo State.
The Oyo State Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project is an Oyo state government initiative under the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (YEAP-SAfER) loan scheme.
It is a Governor Makinde initiative designed to empower young farmers and boost agricultural productivity while creating job opportunities and enhancing food security in the state.
The initiative offers financial support to trained agripreneurs to boost economic growth and curb unemployment in the state.
