A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi, popularly known as “Agbarapo,” has commended the party’s screening panel for what he described as a fair, transparent and unbiased assessment of all aspirants.

Adejumobi gave the commendation shortly after undergoing the screening exercise held at the PDP state secretariat in Ibadan, where he expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the panel and the professionalism displayed throughout the process.

He noted that the screening exercise reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy, adding that the panel members demonstrated neutrality in their engagement with aspirants.

“I must sincerely appreciate the screening panel for the way they handled the exercise. It was thorough, objective and devoid of bias. This is the kind of process that strengthens confidence among party members and aspirants alike,” he said.

The aspirant, who was a former Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly and the present Special Adviser on Legislative Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, however, used the opportunity to reiterate his call for power rotation within the state, insisting that the Oke-Ogun zone deserves the governorship seat in 2027.

He maintained that the zone has endured marginalization under different political parties who treat them as what he called second class citizens of the state by repeatedly zoning the office of the deputy governor to it.

According to him, equity, fairness and inclusiveness demand that the zone, which he described as politically loyal and strategically important, should be given the opportunity to produce the next governor of the state.

“Oke-Ogun has contributed immensely to the growth and stability of the PDP over the years. It is only just and fair that the zone is considered for the governorship in 2027,” Adejumobi stated.

He further emphasized that his aspiration is anchored on delivering inclusive governance, bridging developmental gaps across zones, and ensuring that no part of the state is left behind.

Adejumobi also called on party leaders and stakeholders to remain united as the party prepares for the next phase of its electoral process, stressing that cohesion within the PDP remains critical to securing victory in the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State have earlier thrown their weight behind the governorship aspiration of Hon. Samuel Adejumobi.

The endorsement was announced on Thursday at a strategic meeting held at the Bodija, Ibadan office of party elder, Elder Debo Adejumobi, where key leaders and grassroots mobilisers from Atisbo converged to deliberate on the forthcoming 2027 governorship race.

Speaking at the meeting, party leaders described Adejumobi as a grassroots politician with deep connections across Oyo State, noting that his emergence would strengthen the PDP’s chances in the next gubernatorial election.

According to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the stakeholders unanimously agreed to back Adejumobi, citing his “consistent loyalty to the party, proven leadership capacity, and unwavering commitment to the development of Oyo State.”

One of the leaders at the gathering said, “Hon. Adejumobi represents the kind of tested and trusted leadership the PDP needs at this critical time. His political experience and closeness to the people stand him out among other aspirants.”

Another stakeholder added, “We are confident that Agbarapo has what it takes to unite the party and deliver victory at the polls. Our endorsement is a reflection of the collective will of PDP members in Atisbo.”

Responding to the endorsement, Adejumobi expressed appreciation for the show of confidence, assuring party faithful that he would not take their support for granted.

“I am deeply humbled by this endorsement from my people. It is a call to greater service, and I remain committed to offering purposeful leadership that will uplift every part of Oyo State,” he said.

The stakeholders also urged other party stakeholders across the state to rally behind Adejumobi in the interest of unity and electoral success.
